Bright, Bold & Bohemian Design
Updated: Dec 3, 2019
I. COULD. NOT. WAIT. FOR. THIS. DAY!
I know. I know. It's official fall but I'm bringing you bright, bold colors to hold on to. Well, there is some orange in the color palette so technical we can say it's fall, right.
Any who, our company had the distinct honor and pleasure of designing the cover shoot for WeddingDay Magazine.
Inside you'll find tons of bright color inspiration!
This shoot was held in Muncie, IN at The Loft on Isanogel, one of the oldest barns in east central Indiana. It has rustic appeal, but all the open space and trees were the perfect backdrop for this cover.
When I design, I always like to add in a unique element. This day was no different...so I included real fruit as a pop of color and added layer.
The florals (Special Occasions by Chrissy) were full of lively, popping blooms to accompany the mixed texture of fruits. Florals used were two colors of peonies, trios of roses in free spirit, Amsterdam coral and soft yellow; four colors of carnations, coral ranunculus, yellow alstroemeria, yellow freesia, peach hypericum berry, and green buttons.
Our gown was from Beloved Brides and was exactly what I was looking for. I was able to tie in the circular design on the dress to the shape of the fruit, the design on the cake, and the pattern on the linen used. I always try to layer the design, but pull all the elements together to make sense.
Decor is my favorite part of designing...(of course!) The use of grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and limes brought a spirited and lively touch to our table. It felt like the linens from BBJ Linens were made for this day! The Tangerine Pinwheel design was the absolute best selection, color and pattern, for this cover...it actually reminded me of the inside of a tangerine when cut.
We wanted to accent the design with copper. We tried to incorporate it through the moscow mule mugs, the cocktail table centerpiece, our flatware on the table, and the copper foil print on the invitations. Clear acrylic is trending right now...we wanted to keep incorporating color so the decision to have fruit printed on the menus was a a no-brainer. I love working with my favorite gal pal Eileen with Noteworthy Expressions to create amazing day-of paperie.
Who doesn't love cake and dessert?! We decided on a painted effect on the cake that tied in perfectly with the fruits and florals. We needed the cake to have a bold, colorful pattern. Plus you can't go wrong with handcrafted treats - hand painted macarons and cookies. Sea Salt and Cinnamon did a delicious job!
I love when I get the opportunity to have creative control. I can take colors or a concept and just run with it. I had such a great time doing this!
Can't wait to create magic for you too!
